In honor of Mother’s Day, enjoy some motherly advice for improving your health. Relax! Learning to manage your stress can help you improve your blood glucose levels.
When you’re under stress, your body fights back by producing extra energy in the form of glucose, which can cause blood sugar values to rise as well as your blood pressure. Fortunately, there’s a simple way to reduce and cope with stress – breathe! Deep, focused breathing nearly always reduces feelings of stress.
Take in a deep breath. Then push out as much air as you can. Breathe in and out again, this time relaxing your muscles on purpose while breathing out. Keep breathing and relaxing for 5 to 20 minutes at a time. Do the breathing exercises at least once a day. #motherurdiabetes
