Madonna‘s list of dressing room demands requires everything from 20 international phone lines to “light-pink roses that have stems trimmed to precisely six inches.” Her 200-person entourage apparently includes a yoga instructor and 30 bodyguards.
She also needs the room to be draped in special fabric (how special the magazine doesn’t make clear) and wants her hotel rooms to look and feel her home.
“She requires all furniture be removed from the rooms and replaced with her own pieces that she has shipped in,” a source told the magazine.
“Madonna has probably the longest list of requirements of any of the world’s music stars,” an unnamed source told The Daily Star (via The Daily Mail). “She expects things to be just right or it puts her off her stage show.”
Failure to meet her demands will result in an unhappy Madonna. You don’t want to make Madonna angry – look at her biceps.
Personally, I find these “celebrity insider leaks” to be somewhat ridiculous. If you work in the tour industry – you know every major artist has a list of dressing room requirements and you also know that their production team pads ‘the star’s list’ to make sure you get everything you asked to put on a great show in any city you’re traveling too. In my opinion, Madonna’s dressing room requirements probably also entail the entire production team’s list of requirements. Secondly, most local staff love to make ‘stars’ feel at home so they literally, beg you (as a tour manager) to supply them with a list of personal preferences like flowers, fabrics, etc. If you don’t, they look in celebrity magazines for your star’s likes and dislikes. Finally, most of the time these local venues don’t supply what’s on the list anyway (!) so you have travel with it yourself.
Whether you agree or not, you can take a note from Madonna’s book and improve your diabetes self-care. BE PREPARED when you’re away from home. Her list might be seem ‘over the top’ but yours doesn’t have to be. You can easily add a glucose meter, glucose tablets, medical information and water to your purse or bag to make sure you’re performing at your best. Be a diva if you’re living with diabetes and plan ahead.
