Katy Perry, who has been a guest judge and performer on American Idol, recently confirmed that she won’t be heading over to the competition show anytime soon. But Katy’s still our choice for diva inspiration on July’s Diabetes Roundtable.
Perry told Hollywood Reporter, “People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet.” Perry added that she has other irons in the fire, including the launch of her own label, noting, “It’s a real commitment to be on one of those shows… I have ideas for two or three big, creative things, and I want to be able to fulfill those ideas.”
But while Perry may not be stepping behind the judges table on Idol, she does have some opinions about what sort of people should. The singer said, “I find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven’t been for a decade or longer. Or if they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven’t even lived that perspective?”
