Katy Perry‘s boisterous outfits and multi-hued hair partly stem from the imagination of her stylist Johnny Wujek.
Katy Perry relies on Wujek to make sure the starlet looks more like a teenage dream than one of the boys. And, while Perry has managed to rock the world on stage and on screen (thanks to her 3D tour documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me), it’s her fashion expert and right-hand style man, Johnny Wujek, which deserves the accolades for her over-the-top ensembles. So where does he get the inspiration for Katy’s ever-changing wardrobe?
“My mind is constantly going and trying to think of different things. I feel like Katy and I are on the same page when it comes to thinking out-side of the box and trying to be as creative and fun as possible. Going off of a theme – whether it be candy or whatever it is – it always helps to have a direction and take it outside of the norm. For example, with the Much Music Awards, for Wide Awake it was a ballad and it had an evolution; a meaning behind it. Everything depends on the song and what the meaning is behind it – or sometimes a fun trend or vibe that we go off of,” said Wujek.
Wujek, who is set to appear on the next season of America’s Next Top Model, has his hands in everything Perry: from creating many of her show-stopping red carpet looks to designing all of the costumes for her California Dreams tour.
Katy loves Versace, YSL and Chanel. She loves Chanel. She rarely wears jeans. She mainly wears dresses and lately it’s been a lot of black and dark. She’s kind of moved onto the ’90s a little bit with the black lace and dark purple hair. It’s just a fun little phase, ” said Wujek.
