Mariah Carey‘s post baby body may be slim but her “American Idol” salary is quite sizable. According toPeople, Carey will take home about $18 million for her time on the “American Idol” judge panel. This makes the newly slim and trim, Carey one of the highest — if not the highest — paid reality TV judge.
Nick Cannon, Carey’s husband, told TMZ that “American Idol” would need to show Carey some big bucks to get her to sign on. ”I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey,” he said. “That’s a lot of money. If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!”
Nick also thinks his wife will be the most fierce face to ever sit at the judges’ table – but even tougher than Simon Cowell?
“She’s very serious about music and singing. She’ll probably be the toughest judge that’s ever been on [the] show,” Nick told Access Hollywood backstage at Wednesday’sAmerica’s Got Talent.
In addition to her strong opinions, Mariah will also show off another not-often-seen side.
“She’s going to be amazing… people don’t know my wife’s sense of humor,” Nick continued. “They’re about to get the whole Mariah Carey, raw and uncut! And see the woman that I fell in love with.”
But ‘Idol’s not the only thing on Mariah’s plate. She’s set to join the cast of Lee Daniel‘s upcoming movie, The Butler. The superstar has worked in the past with Daniels on Precious. Although there’s no word on what character Carey will play, she’ll join a star-studded cast including Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams, Minka Kelly, John Cusack and Jane Fonda.
Will Mariah be trading diet and fitness tips with Jane Fonda between takes on the set?
The 42-year-old Jenny Craig spokesperson admitted that it wasn’t as easy to drop the weight as she had hoped. “I used to be able to slim down just by exercising more, but that’s changed. Since having the babies, I realise that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet.”
Mariah opened up about the mental struggle to lose so much weight, telling Shape, “I’ve been there and I know what they are going through. I remember thinking at the time: ‘I’ll never look or feel the same again.’”
