This summer getting a manicure is all about nail art and playing with existing or on-trend colours and adding more depth to polish designs. Fresh, fruit art never really go out of style — they just evolve and get more awesome.
You can pick up some decals at your local craft store, applying it to wet polish with some tweezers, and sealing your nutritient-rich mani with a top coat to protect it.
“Nail art has come a long way, but this is the first time it’s a conversation piece,” says beauty expert Dana Caruso.
She explains decking our your fingers with crazy colours and fun designs are the “it” way to alter your mood and show off your personality.
Keep in mind, not all manicures are created equal. ”The level of complete disregard for manicuring and health and sanitation is just absolutely appalling,” says celebrity manicurist Beth Fricke, who has groomed the nails of everyone from Angelina Jolie to Zoe Saldana. “There are good ones out there, and you just have to be aware and ask questions. Basically what you want to look for is that the tools are cleaned with soap, water and a nailbrush. Then they need to be soaked. Sometimes they do that ahead of time and put them in the sanitary bags. Ask them what their process is. I have no problem with people asking me how I clean my tools. That’s a question I should be able to answer.”
