The last time we saw Beyoncé in braids was so long ago we forgot she actually wore them. This summer, she ‘s been stepping out in New York with her daughter, Blue Ivy, sporting a braided up ‘do.
Kudos to the new mom for wearing those braids in an unexpected yet seasonally smart way—a swirly updo that keeps things cool when the temps get hot.
Both People magazine and the New York Daily News report the singer/actress/mother is returning to her Destiny’s Child roots, when she wore braids and other fab hairdos. Perhaps it’s simply a reflection of a new mom wanting a new look or maybe she realized it was too hot for her signature long goddess locks this summer. It also doesn’t hurt that her sister Solange is a fan of braided up ‘dos and appeared in Houston a few months ago rocking the look.
