Brazilian Fans Are Wild for Taylor Swift

September 14, 2012

Divabetic SummerShowing some love to her Brazilian fans, Divabetic’s Diva Inspiration for September,  Taylor Swift gave a captivating performance in Rio de Janeiro. The “Mean” singer played a hit-laden set for the sold out crowd, and even invited some members of the audience to join her on stage. After the gig, Taylor headed out to a gourmet restaurant nearby where she signed autographs and posed for pictures with a few lucky fans.

In related news, Swift’s kiss off anthem “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” has topped the Billboard Singles chart for the third week in a row.

Did you know Taylor Swift‘s smash song “Fifteen”  from the Fearless CD  can actually help you manage your diabetes like a diva?! Yes, it’s true. Taylor’s hit can help remind you to use the ‘Rule of 15′ for treating low blood sugars.

Zac Posen’s Spring 2013 Collection Finds The Joy And Power in Dressing

September 14, 2012

Divabetic Summer“The show is about glamour, elegance, and craft,” Zac Posen said right before he presented his spring 2013 collection in New York City.

Posen’s inspirations this season were American swans of yesteryear—C. Z. Guest, Grace Kelly, Brenda Frazier. Meanwhile, the swans, if that’s the proper word, of today were occupying his front row: Alexa Chung, Margherita Maccapani Missoni, Lily Kwong.

Posen’s theory is that these women are getting ever more dressed up for events, so he’s taken it upon himself to keep them in entry-making looks. For spring, you’ll see a corseted tulle “futuristic Degas” cocktail dress, a jade-hued satin-bodiced tulle ball dress, and a floral showstopper with a chiffon-over-organza-over-taffeta skirt. And Coco Rocha appeared last in the show wearing a tiered white ball dress.

Divabetic SummerPosen’s women, he says, “find joy and power in dressing.”

Of course, these dresses aren’t practical. We love e’m because they exemplify Divabetic’s ‘GLAM MORE, FEAR LESS’ philosophy. Why not dress up and show off how fabulous you can be?

We can’t understand why people ask “why are YOU so dressed up?” As if wearing something cute that makes you feel good is a “strange” thing to do!

Life’s too short to blend in. Don’t settle for average.

Dressing unconventionally forces you to develop the self-assurance necessary to stand out from everyone else like a diva. Fashion is one of the rare instances where art comes alive. What artistic statement do you want to make?

If you’ve got it (great style, killer confidence, amazing legs), it’s just wrong not to flaunt it. Don’t get down, Get DIVA!

Diva Front Row at Calvin Klein – Spring 2013

September 14, 2012

Divabetic SummerCalvin Klein’s Francisco Costa showed a Spring 2013 collection that didn’t disappoint with exquisite veiled dresses consisting of two layers, the most impressive of which had a strapless white under layer with netting on top.

We think this look is diva-licious!!!

Costa created a printed illusion by putting an abstract black lace dress over a white satin bustier and mesh skirt.

Costa’s Hollywood fashion fans, Amy Adams, Emma Stone and Diane Kruger, seemed to be greatly admiring his work — and taking notes — from the front row.

We have a feeling some of these designs will show up on these actresses during awards season. There are no great Oscar gowns here but there are lots of suits and dresses perfect for the Nominees Luncheon, Guild screenings and never-ending studio cocktail parties.  Here’s hoping we catch one or two A-List actresses on the red tomato carpet in Calvin Klein.

How Private Are Your Medical Records?

September 14, 2012

Divabetic SummerWhat if you learned your medical records containing your private history, family history and medication history weren’t private after all?

ABC News investigated this alarming trend and found out some disturbing news.

Julie, a lawyer from Boston, discovered that her sensitive health information was available to anyone who worked at the hospital.

“My expectation was that my records were going to be private, especially my therapy records,” Julie said. “And if another doctor wanted to see my records, they’d ask me and then I’d give my authorization for them to view my records if they needed to see them.”

Julie, who requested her last name not be used, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in her late teens and began seeing a psychiatrist in 2002 after speaking with her primary care physician.

She, like millions of Americans, thought her conversations with her psychiatrist were confidential.

“I thought I had protection under HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) for my psychotherapy notes to be private and I thought only my psychiatrist could see those,” the 42-year-old said, adding that she noticed over the years her physician started entering them electronically.

What she didn’t realize was that her physician’s notes could be accessed by doctors and other health-care providers who worked in the same health-care system (6,000 doctors and nine affiliated hospitals) to have access — information she learned after going to see an on-call physician for a stomach issue and realizing he knew about intimate relationship information only disclosed to her psychiatrist.

Concerned, she requested a copy of her medical records from the health care system.

Within those records she saw every note, every meeting, every conversation she had with her psychiatrist.

“It was pretty traumatic because I felt that, you know, this man read without — against my wishes — without my consent,” Julie said. “He read private information that I disclosed to a therapist that I didn’t even tell my best friends about.”

And while most hospitals have rules about who may access medical records, compliance for the most part is not strictly regulated.

In fact, an ABC News investigation found that often medical information is so unprotected, millions of records can be bought online. Because so many people have access, the entire system is vulnerable to theft, experts told ABC News

Blake Lively Embraces Her Cellulite!

September 14, 2012

Divabetic SummerThis summer we fell in love with Blake Lively, just like Ryan Reynolds, when we glimpsedpaparazzi pics of Blake in her bathing suit. Was that cellulite we spied? That she was making no efforts to cover up? How refreshing! How real! How “just like us” of her!

Turns out Blake is totally confident in her body and accepting of her (very rare, almost imperceptible) physical imperfections. The newly married star (what, didn’t you hear?opened up to Allure in the October issue:

“I wish I could lie and say that I do something [to stay fit], but…” She cuts herself short, perhaps realizing how unfair it sounds. “I obviously have plenty of imperfections on my body, but I’d rather have a little bit of cellulite and go do a food trip and try every ice cream place in the South.”
Cellulite is a term used to describe the dimpled appearance of skin caused by fat deposits that are just below the surface of the skin. It generally appears on skin in the abdomen, lower limbs, and pelvic region, and it usually occurs after puberty.
Eating healthy, low fat foods such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help one to avoid cellulite. Similarly exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing stress are recommended to prevent cellulite.
