Welcome to the Divabetic® Blog!
Divabetic, a national nonprofit, provides free education, empowerment and encouragement for women at risk, affected by and living with diabetes to stay healthy and upbeat about their daily self-care. To do this, we have created many innovative outreach programs devoted to women affected by diabetes including ‘Divabetic – Makeover Your Diabetes’ sponsored by Novo Nordisk as well as their family members including our Halloween-themed family health program, the Broomstick Bash, with Mount Sinai Medical Center that takes diabetes education out of the clinical setting and into a fun and supportive environment.
Of course, you are aware that diabetes is a serious public health issue – it affects an estimated 9.7 million women in the United States – a number that’s unfortunately steadily increasing. We understand that managing diabetes can be difficult at times, so we’re here to motivate you to feel less ‘rundown’ and more ‘runway’ about your daily self care. We’d like to congratulate you for taking a major step toward changing your attitude about your health by joining us today.
We have many ways for you to join us in helping to bring diabetes education to the many women affected by or living with diabetes. To learn more, visit the Volunteer Page on our website and learn how you as an individual or your company can make a difference.
Diabetes managed to silence one of the world’s most beautiful voices in July 2005 but that doesn’t mean it has to stop yours. Join us! Lift your voice, share your experiences and take the time to empower and to educate your loved ones about your care so that they can help you to manage your diabetes in a better way. Start today.
Don’t get down, get diva!
