Divabetic: Gym Ad Take On Paula Deen

New York Sports Club took out an ad in the New York Times that turned into news itself: the text read, “Paula, you made a fortune off of fat. Call us if you want to be around to enjoy it.”

They were referring to Paula Deen — the Food Network star who is best known for her high-fat and high-sugar  Southern comfort food.

Recently, Paula Deen revealed that she has been living with Type 2 diabetes for the past three years, drawing criticism from around the globe for concealing the condition while promoting unhealthy foods. What’s more, many questioned her motivation for speaking out, given her timing. She’d signed a multi-million dollar deal with pharmaceutical company to promote their diabetes drug while she continues to profit from peddling diabetes-inappropriate fare.

According to reports, Paula Deen has made an estimated $30 million during the period between her diagnosis and her public statement about the disorder.

Divabetic Salutes Mary Tyler Moore

Divabetic: Mary turns our World on with a smile!

Mary Tyler Moore made it after all.

The 75-year-old actress, diabetes activist and DIVA-betic, who as Mary Richards “turned the world on with her smile” in her groundbreaking 1970s sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” received the lifetime achievement award at Sunday night’s 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“MTM. There’s probably not a person in the civilized world who doesn’t know what that means,” said Dick Van Dyke, her former co-star in the equally appealing 1960s sit-com “The Dick Van Dyke show,” as he introduced her.

He noted Moore’s achievements as an Oscar-nominated actress, a dancer and a Hollywood executive whose MTM Enterprises has produced several other hit TV shows.

As she accepted her award, Moore revealed how the civilized world almost never did hear of MTM, who was told in the opening theme song of her show each week, “You’re gonna make it after all.”

When she entered show business at age 18 in 1955, Moore said, there were already six others Mary Moores in the Screen Actors Guild.

Told to change her name, she quickly added Tyler, the middle name of both her and her father, George.

“I was Mary Tyler Moore. I spoke it out loud. Mary Tyler Moore. It sounded right so I wrote it down on the form, and it looked right,” she said. “It was right. SAG was happy, my father was happy, and tonight, after having the privilege of working in this business among the most creative and talented people imaginable, I too am happy, after all.”

Paula Deen Rumored to be a ‘DIVA-betic’

Divabetic: Paula Deen

News is breaking tonight  that Food Network star Paula Deen, beloved queen of high-calorie, Southern cooking, is about to confess she’ll be eating her own dishes in moderation from now on because she has diabetes.

Paula Deen, 64, has not addressed the buzz, which started in April when the National Enquirer reported she has type 2 diabetes.

Insiders say the Georgia native has started changing her cooking approach and will soon make healthier options available at her Savannah, Ga., restaurant, The Lady & Sons.

Her son, Bobby Deen, has already jumped on the healthier food bandwagon. Earlier this month, he launched the series,  “Not My Mama’s Meals,” on the Cooking Channel, where he creates less fatty versions of his mother’s old-fashioned Southern recipes.

Sources say Paula Deen plans to soon announce her condition because she has cooked up a lucrative deal with a pharmaceutical company  to endorse the drug she’s taking.
