The best way to look from every angle on the Red Carpet is make sure you’re eating right. This is why the first question burning on Mr. Divabetic’s lips on the Red Tomato Carpet to ask a celebrity like Jada Pinkett is “what are you eating?”
With plenty of cash to hire personal trainers and private chefs, one of Hollywood’s hottest actresses might seem to have all the tools in place for perfect health but how does she avoid temptation?
Jada Pinkett she admits she still craves “McDonald’s French fries.”
The 41-year-old mom to Jaden, 14, and Willow, 12, who recently showed off an extremely toned beach body on a vacation to Hawaii also admits to facing the same challenges we all do: keeping her career hot, her marriage hotter, and her body hottest.
She told Essence that she normally just sees food as a way to power her body: I don’t eat for pleasure. I eat for my schedule, so I have to eat high-protein, lots of greens and healthy carbs so that I don’t fall flat on my face.”
Jada tweeted a photo of herself emerging from the surf, James Bond girl-style, with the message: “To my Forty and over crew! Don’t believe the hype…we DO get better with age!” (Jada turned 40 last September.)
Need to lose weight FAST for a big event? Like the Half-time show at the Super Bowl?
Many famous celebrities like Beyonce are turning to detox diets or ‘fasts’ and not Pepsi in order to look their best in the shortest amount of time.
“I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 14 days. It was tough; everyone was eating and I was dying,” said Beyonce. But, in two weeks she reportedly lost 20 pounds.
With Awards season in high gear, the GRAMMY AWARDS are next week and I’m nominated for WEGO Health Activist Awards, I’m facing the same challenge of wanting to look my best on the Red Carpet in a short amount of time. So should I jump on the ‘detox diet’ bandwagon? Is it healthy?
I’ll be discussing the Lemon Detox Diet with Constance Brown Riggs, MSEd, RD, CDE, the author of ‘The African American Guide To Living Well With Diabetes’ , and ‘Eating Soulfully and Healthfully with Diabetes’, on Divabetic’s upcoming free monthly Diabetes Roundtable podcast on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, 6-7 PM, EST. The Lemon Detox Diet consists of fresh water, pure lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and natural maple syrup. The acid in the lemons claims to assist the cleansing process, and the cayenne pepper helps speed up your metabolism promoting circulation and a greater release of toxins from our bodies. They say that this detox diet will help you cleanse your body, lose weight quickly and make you feel better overall. (I’m always become a bit skeptical when I hear too many benefits!)
As a culture, we eat a lot of processed foods, that we add very little nutrition to our bodies. What the creators of detox diets say is that these types of diets allow our bodies to naturally cleanse themselves, while we take a break from solid food. What do you think?

“You can never be too rich or too thin,” said Wallis Warfield Simpson.
Seventy years later Wallis’ words still ring true when you consider that actress, Anne Hathaway‘s 25 pound weight loss is on track to win her a Golden Globe for the role of Fantine in the film, Les Miserable making her richer and more famous than ever!
But what’s the price of being rich enough to eat nothing?
Anne Hathaway told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I just had to stop eating all for a total of 13 days shooting.’
The 29-year-old shed the weight in two stages: she dropped 10lbs in three weeks before filming, and then 15lbs during production.
Her ten-year-old British co-star Isabelle Allen, who plays Fantine’s daughter Cosette, described Miss Hathaway’s diet as ‘rabbit food’ and said it left the actress so fragile that she broke her arm in a fall. ‘She she was only eating salad and greens and vegetables because of her diet, because of her character,” and added added that Anne had broken her arm because ‘she was so thin and fragile. She was riding a bike and she broke her arm’.
Isabelle said she treated Miss Hathaway as ‘a big sister’ during the filming and admitted she has wanted to be like her since she saw her in The Princess Diaries.
Hathaway said: ‘I was on a starvation diet to look like I was near death in a film… but I went at it with a plan and I had a guide, a nutritionist kind of helped me with it.’
Eating disorder campaigners say the time the two spent together may not have been good for Isabelle and warned that the film industry has a ‘toxic preoccupation with extreme thinness.’

Jessica Simpson‘s new Weight Watchers ads are slated to begin airing Dec. 25. She’s reportedly lost about 50 pounds since daughter Maxwell Drew was born in May. Some of the weight loss was apparent when she and sister Ashlee toured last month, promoting the Jessica Simpson Collection at department stores including Macy’s and Dillard’s
hortly after becoming a mom, Simpson, 32, admitted that she felt self-conscious about her post-baby body – but said she was ready to get back into shape.
“I think anybody who’s gone through a pregnancy, after they have the baby, it’s like, ‘I need to do something about this!’ ” she told PEOPLE in May. “For me, I really want to do something that is a lifestyle, because in the past I’ve been known to yo-yo diet.”
So, when Weight Watchers asked her to be their new spokesperson, the fashion mogul eagerly said yes, and signed her friends up for the program, too.
“Weight Watchers changed my relationship with food, and I feel so much more prepared to make the right choices,” she says. “It feels pretty incredible.”

Tonight, Brazilian beauty Adriana Lima opens the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, eight weeks after giving birth to her second child.
How did she manage to jump back into shape and gain the confidence to strut her stuff down the runway in the skimpy lingerie after giving birth so quickly?
“I had to do everything in a healthy way in order to best take care of myself and my body. I never do things on my own — I have a nutritionist and a personal trainer. I don’t want to have any problems. I know people see us on the runway and working out — but I don’t want them to think that we don’t eat. I don’t starve myself. I don’t do that. I love food, but I do watch what I eat,” says Lima.
“As for my diet, I was eating three ounces of protein, three times a day with plenty of steamed green vegetables and drinking lots of water.”
Apparently, this Victoria Secret model can really kick butt too!
“I was boxing — sparring, doing a little bit of rope and lots of abdominal and core work. I sometimes went running in the morning, but that’s pretty much it. You need a lot of determination in order to do it every single day. Every minute of every workout counts and this year, I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it or not.”
“I’ve never felt pressure from either Victoria’s Secret or my agency. No one pressured me to get ready for the show this fast. It’s a decision I made on my own. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done because you’re dealing with nature,” says Lima.
“I’m a little bit older than them. But regardless of age, I’m really aware of the fact that you are what you eat.”

Jessica Simpson has lost more than 60 pounds since she gave birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew, in May.
The singer/actress was spotted in Tampa, Florida at an area Dillard’s department to promote her clothing line. Wearing a pink blazer, loose blouse and slim boot-cut jeans, Simpson proudly posed for cameras.
Not long after giving birth, Simpson signed up for Weight Watchers, and has been candid about her struggle with shedding the baby weight. At the time, she said she wasn’t focused on a goal weight but rather losing inches, creating a healthy diet plan, and maintaining a realistic perspective.
“I’m not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself,” Simpson told USA Today in September, not long beforeshe gave an update on “Katie.”
“My weight has always been something that people like to comment on. I’ve gotten used to it. It’ll start to get boring at some point, I hope,” she continued. “Nobody wants to talk about their weight. For me, I have had to come to a place where I am comfortable with myself. I’m a mom now, and get to be a role model for this beautiful little girl.”

In the age old battle of the bulge it seems like superstar divas are much better than the rest of us at fighting off temptations. In this Diva Vs. Dessert duel, Pink easily resists one of the Thanksgiving treats, Pecan Pie. What’s her secret to kissing her favorite desserts goodbye?
Pink recently shed 55 pounds, gained after the birth of her first child last year, as a result of switching to a mostly vegetarian diet. She told Cosmopolitan magazine that although she occasionally eats chicken and fish, her new diet even turns vegan, meaning no animal products, at times.
She admitted, “I ate a lot of cheesecake during those nine months,” to Shape magazine, according to Yahoo. “Also anything sour, Sour Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Key Lime Pie.”
But today the notoriously fit 32-year-old pop star says her typical day includes a workout which involves one-hour of cardio and an additional hour of strength-training or yoga. She admits she loves working out. “I like feeling strong. It keeps my mental floor higher. Even if it’s a pain in the … and you hate working out, the endorphins help.”
She also tells Cosmo that “I thought I’d feel like a goddess. They sell you on that … like you’ll never feel more feminine. Really, I just felt like a mess, but I kind of enjoyed that too. .. yeah, I gained 55 pounds. I think my baby may be part cheesecake.” She adds “I’ve been in mommy mode, and I’m just starting to get back out there into the real world. I’ve been in the studio recording my new album, so now it feels like everything is falling back into place.”
If you’ve had enough of ongoing sugar cravings take this ’Blow Me One Last Kiss’ advice: Before you even start cutting down your sugar consumption, you may want to focus on boosting your daily water intake. Being fully hydrated is a great way to help flush toxins from your body and keep all of your muscles and organs functioning as they were meant to, which can help curb sugar cravings.

Curvy Christina Auguilera, the woman who once ridiculed Kelly Osbourne about her weight, has become the center of a celebrity ‘make me look thin’ photoshop controversy.
Is it “Your Body” or is it Photoshop? some fans questioned when the picture of Christina Aguilera‘s new single cover was released. The star posted the photo of herself on Twitter. (We would post it too if we looked that good!)
“Can’t wait for you all to hear it. Here’s the single. #YourBody” the 31-year-old singer tweeted.
The photo depicts “The Voice” star, Christina Aguilera wearing a wrap dress that clings to her sides – a seemingly unforgiving dress if she was carrying even the slightest extra pound. Some fans aren’t surprised though, after rumors surfaced in March that the singer had lost weight and was getting back into shape.
Aguilera has had her fair share of enemies since her debut on “The Voice” and many have been critical of her weight which is why some have questioned whether the singer actually dropped the weight or simply had her photo digitally altered.
“Photoshop looks really good on her,” Theresa Weaver commented on the Huffington Post blog.
“My first thought as we know she has put on a bit of weight,” Classic Chic responded. “You can always count on the entertainment industry to perpetuate fake in order to get our money. They probably laugh at us all the way to the bank.”

Meet Mr. Divabetic on his quest to glamorize good health at the American Diabetes Association’s Diabetes Expo in Pittsburgh, PA.
Since giving birth to her fist child, Willow Sage, back in June 2011, Pink has been working hard to get her usually taut-and-toned figure back. Well it looks like all the gym time has payed off, the new mom flaunted her six-pack on the cover of SHAPE magazine’s newest issue.
I guess, we can easily say, Pink blew her 55 pound weight gain one last kiss goodbye, by looking at the SELF magazine cover.
Although the 33-year old songstress refused to “rush” into dropping the baby weight, she admits she had some work to do after packing on 55 pounds during her pregnancy. “I ate a lot of cheesecake during those nine months,” Pink tells the fitness magazine of her pregnancy cravings. “Also anything sour, Sour Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, key lime pie.”
When it came time to shed the extra pounds, Pink recruited celebrity trainers Jillian Michaels and Jeanette Jenkins. “They both kicked my butt more than any other person I’ve worked out with,” she said. “They’re both amazing, and their bodies were all the inspiration I needed to get back into shape.” She committed to work outs six days per week, consisting of cardio, strength training, power yoga and kickboxing. Yowza!
In addition to her rigorous sweat sessions, the former gymnast maintains a primarily vegan diet, with the occasional fish or chicken.

Pamela Anderson is back in her natural habitat: running on the beach in her red Baywatch bathing suit.
Sadly, this doesn’t mean the lifeguard drama isn’t returning to the small screen. Peoplereports that the actress donned the sexy swimwear for a commercial she’s shooting in Rio de Janeiro.
Anderson first rocked the one-piece while playing C.J. Parker on Baywatch from 1992-1997.
This fall is a very nostalgic time for the actress. In addition to returning to her Baywatch roots for the commercial, Anderson also returned to Dancing with the Stars for the all-star season. Unfortunately, she and dance partner Tristan MacManus were the first to eliminated from the sequined dance competition. Anderson first appeared on the reality competition’s 10th season in 2010.
