The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic is ready to roll out the Red Tomato Carpet at Sherri Shepherd’s Plan D Booking Signing event on Tuesday, May 7 at the Wayne YMCA located at 1 Pike Drive, Wayne, NJ 07470. The event will be moderated by one of our favorite ‘Divabetics’ Fran Carpentier. She’s FABULOUS!
For years, TV show host, actress and comedian Sherri Shepherd was told that she was pre-diabetic.And for years, she ignored her doctor’s advice to lose weight and get healthy before she developed full blown diabetes. When she finally got the big-D diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, the same disease that took her mother’s life, Sherri vowed that she’d change her ways so that her son wouldn’t be left alone, without a mother, as she had been.
With the help of her doctor, she created this Plan D program, lost more than 40 pounds, and she looks great and has more energy than she did in her twenties. Sherri’s diabetes is under control, and she was happy to show her stuff, wowing the world on Dancing with the Stars.
With tools to help you live a long and healthy life, Plan D is a smart and supportive plan designed to help you lose weight safely, make exercise a real, and fun, part of your life, and control your sugar sensitivity. And through it all, Sherri Shepherd is there, like a trusted friend, offering advice, encouragement, and of course a healthy dose of humor.
Newly anointed “Divabetic” Paula Deen is the first one to admit: “When I first found out I was diabetic, I had no solutions. I couldn’t even help myself, much less somebody else.”
Do you feel the same way? If so, tune in to Divabetic’s free monthly diabetes educational podcast, Diabetes Roundtable to help you journey from “diagnosis to DIVA! YOU can do it.
In this week’s issue, the 66-year-old Food Network star invited PEOPLE into her Savannah home to share how her family members adopted different weight loss strategies and lost an astounding 178 lbs. total.
By figuring out a diet plan that works for their particular schedule and lifestyle, Deen’s husband Michael Groover shed 60 lbs., her oldest son Jamie got rid of an excess 45 lbs., and her youngest son Bobby maintained his 33-lb. loss. But no one sacrificed their love of Southern food. Instead they learned to stick to Deen’s new mantra. “Moderation, moderation, moderation,” says Deen, whose new cookbook The New Testament due out this fall will include her go-to recipes and tips. “I love feeding people but now I also want to help people eat right.”
Of course, a few small changes to her cooking repertoire can’t hurt, either. Deen has reportedly swapped in Greek yogurt for creaminess in some of her recipes, HuffPost Food reported earlier this month.

Tonight, Brazilian beauty Adriana Lima opens the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, eight weeks after giving birth to her second child.
How did she manage to jump back into shape and gain the confidence to strut her stuff down the runway in the skimpy lingerie after giving birth so quickly?
“I had to do everything in a healthy way in order to best take care of myself and my body. I never do things on my own — I have a nutritionist and a personal trainer. I don’t want to have any problems. I know people see us on the runway and working out — but I don’t want them to think that we don’t eat. I don’t starve myself. I don’t do that. I love food, but I do watch what I eat,” says Lima.
“As for my diet, I was eating three ounces of protein, three times a day with plenty of steamed green vegetables and drinking lots of water.”
Apparently, this Victoria Secret model can really kick butt too!
“I was boxing — sparring, doing a little bit of rope and lots of abdominal and core work. I sometimes went running in the morning, but that’s pretty much it. You need a lot of determination in order to do it every single day. Every minute of every workout counts and this year, I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it or not.”
“I’ve never felt pressure from either Victoria’s Secret or my agency. No one pressured me to get ready for the show this fast. It’s a decision I made on my own. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done because you’re dealing with nature,” says Lima.
“I’m a little bit older than them. But regardless of age, I’m really aware of the fact that you are what you eat.”

Jessica Simpson has lost more than 60 pounds since she gave birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew, in May.
The singer/actress was spotted in Tampa, Florida at an area Dillard’s department to promote her clothing line. Wearing a pink blazer, loose blouse and slim boot-cut jeans, Simpson proudly posed for cameras.
Not long after giving birth, Simpson signed up for Weight Watchers, and has been candid about her struggle with shedding the baby weight. At the time, she said she wasn’t focused on a goal weight but rather losing inches, creating a healthy diet plan, and maintaining a realistic perspective.
“I’m not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself,” Simpson told USA Today in September, not long beforeshe gave an update on “Katie.”
“My weight has always been something that people like to comment on. I’ve gotten used to it. It’ll start to get boring at some point, I hope,” she continued. “Nobody wants to talk about their weight. For me, I have had to come to a place where I am comfortable with myself. I’m a mom now, and get to be a role model for this beautiful little girl.”

This past January, Winokur told PEOPLE her body was bouncing back after a rocky holiday season.
Using her Retired at 35 costar Josh McDermitt as a support system, the PEOPLE blogger said, “We’ll text each other in the morning [about our hikes]. Since the year began, I’m doing well. Everything’s back on track.”
At the time, she also said her “clothes are fitting better” and she no longer wanted “to eat crap.”

Curvy Christina Auguilera, the woman who once ridiculed Kelly Osbourne about her weight, has become the center of a celebrity ‘make me look thin’ photoshop controversy.
Is it “Your Body” or is it Photoshop? some fans questioned when the picture of Christina Aguilera‘s new single cover was released. The star posted the photo of herself on Twitter. (We would post it too if we looked that good!)
“Can’t wait for you all to hear it. Here’s the single. #YourBody” the 31-year-old singer tweeted.
The photo depicts “The Voice” star, Christina Aguilera wearing a wrap dress that clings to her sides – a seemingly unforgiving dress if she was carrying even the slightest extra pound. Some fans aren’t surprised though, after rumors surfaced in March that the singer had lost weight and was getting back into shape.
Aguilera has had her fair share of enemies since her debut on “The Voice” and many have been critical of her weight which is why some have questioned whether the singer actually dropped the weight or simply had her photo digitally altered.
“Photoshop looks really good on her,” Theresa Weaver commented on the Huffington Post blog.
“My first thought as we know she has put on a bit of weight,” Classic Chic responded. “You can always count on the entertainment industry to perpetuate fake in order to get our money. They probably laugh at us all the way to the bank.”

Your favorite TV show might be even better for your health than you’d think. The Huffington Post found surprisingly smart health lessons in episodes of the Emmy Nominated series, “Mad Men.”
Much has been said and written about the copious amounts of smoking and drinking on nominated drama “Mad Men” (including by January Jones’s character Betty, while she was pregnant, no less), but the latest season of the award-winning show offered some exemplary healthy behavior.
Betty, in an effort to lose weight after finding herself turning to food for comfort, joins Weight Watchers to get back to her old self. While no one particular diet plan is right for everyone, Betty’s experience illustrates some of the most important rules of weight loss: she drops the pounds slowly, only down a half pound at her first meeting, and makes some smart changes to her diet. We see her eating a grapefruit, rather than finishing her daughter Sally’s ice cream sundae, and husband Henry comments on how she’s serving more fish and less steak for family dinners.

Jessica Simpson recently revealed she was 10lbs away from her pre-baby weight. The singer and actress went out in West Hollywood with her fiancé Eric Johnson and looked great in a glitzy get-up.
The 32-year-old wore a bead-embellished beige, white and brown frock which hung loosely over her arms and stomach.
But she made sure to leave her tanned legs on show which she dressed up in nude high heels.
She looked positively glowing with perfectly applied make-up, a half-up-half-down hairdo and stand-out hoop earrings.
The pair was not alone though as they left Fig & Olive restaurant, and travelled back with another couple plus her best friend KaCee Cobb in their car.
Jessica told talkshow host, Katie Couric earlier this month that she has had to make a special effort to shift the extra pounds following her labour on May 1
‘All the weight did not come out with the baby,’ she said.
‘I had to stay focused on my diet. I want to be as healthy as I can because I’m a mom now.’
She’s been following Weight Watchers after signing a deal rumoured to be worth $4m and has also been working out with a personal trainer.

Isn’t not easy being a celebrity. Imagine what it’s like to be being photographed from every (bad) angle on your way to the gym after having a baby! YIKES!
Jessica Simpson decided that she needed to lose weight. Her reasoning for this she states is “There is a lot of pressure to lose weight but I’m not a supermodel. I’m just Jessica trying to eat real food in the real world and I really just wanna be healthy for my daughter.”
Her appearance on the new Katie Couric show, 4 months after the start of her diet revealed her 40 pound weight loss and a diva-licious attitude.
“I’m on my way and it feels amazing. Really I just wanna be a better version of myself,” said Jessica. You go, diva!
Talking on the debut episode of Katie today Jessica explained why the Weight Watchers program is working for her.
‘You have to track every bit, and you can’t get away with the bites because they add up,’ she said.
‘You have to be completely honest with yourself, and I think just creating that relationship of honesty with yourself is so good.’
The Los Angeles Times reports that “In addition to Weight Watchers, Jessica works with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak. They execute a daily cardio routine…”
Celebrities enjoy the benefit of celebrity trainers, and weight loss companies that pay them to lose weight in return for the privilege of claiming responsibility. But the fact remains that the majority of overweight Americans, estimated to be around 74%, 34% of who are considered to be obese, do not have the benefit of personal trainers and endorsement deals.

The free event offered both educational resources for caring for diabetes — including lots of opportunities to talk with certified diabetes educators and health professionals — as well as salon services such as makeup application by professional makeup artists and advice on choosing flattering dress styles.
