How Much Exercise Does It Take To Burn Off Those Super Bowl Snacks

February 6, 2013
Super Bowl Snacks

Super Bowl Snacks

We overeat more during the Super Bowl that we do at Thanksgiving! Hours of mindless grazing as we keep our eyes on the game and not on our plates can be the downfall of our diets.

Americans will eat 11.2 million pounds of potato chips, 8.2 million pounds of tortilla chips and 4.3 million pounds of pretzels, according to the Calorie Control Council. Plus, we’ll consume 1.23 billion chicken wings (12.3 million fewer than last year, though, according to Business News Daily), 111 million gallons of beer and 4.4 million pizzas, according to the Wall Street Journal.

How much exercise  would it take a 150-pound person to burn off  1,200 calories of Super Bowl snacks during the game?

Seven hours of yoga, a three-hour hike of walking at a moderate pace for  nearly 5 hours to burn 1,200 calories this way.

If you’d rather hit the dance floor it would take you nearly four hours to burn 1,200 calories.
