Ann Romney looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G last night as she addressed the Republican Convention. She wore a bright red silk taffeta Oscar de la Renta dress that made ’60′ look ‘sensational.’ Seriously, Suzanne Somers should interview Ann for a sequel to her best-selling book, The Sexy Years”!
Her dress was stunning — a plain dress, the cut was plain, but the color and the material were spectacular; it fit her image and what she wanted to communicate. She was dressed in a way that women would like, and not be threatened by. No matter what your political beliefs, there’s no denying this woman’s inner and outer beauty.
Ann Romney gave a ‘diagnosis to diva!’ speech. What’s not deeply appealing about a woman who has struggled with illness (breast cancer, and multiple sclerosis) and miscarriages and emerged with grace? Surely the day that Ann and Mitt Romney stood in the doctor’s office and heard her diagnosis, they didn’t think she would be onstage the way she was tonight. She said she hasn’t lived a storybook marriage because she and her husband have faced hard knocks. But isn’t that what a storybook marriage is? A love that can withstand everything?
Ann Romney was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998 and has credited a mixture of mainstream and alternative treatments with giving her a lifestyle mostly without limitations. In one of those activities, equestrianism, she has consequently received recognition in dressage as an adult amateur at the national level and competed professionally in Grand Prix as well. In 2008, she was also diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, a non-invasive type of breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy in December of the same year and has since been cancer-free.
