Zac Posen’s Spring 2013 Collection Finds The Joy And Power in Dressing

September 14, 2012

Divabetic Summer“The show is about glamour, elegance, and craft,” Zac Posen said right before he presented his spring 2013 collection in New York City.

Posen’s inspirations this season were American swans of yesteryear—C. Z. Guest, Grace Kelly, Brenda Frazier. Meanwhile, the swans, if that’s the proper word, of today were occupying his front row: Alexa Chung, Margherita Maccapani Missoni, Lily Kwong.

Posen’s theory is that these women are getting ever more dressed up for events, so he’s taken it upon himself to keep them in entry-making looks. For spring, you’ll see a corseted tulle “futuristic Degas” cocktail dress, a jade-hued satin-bodiced tulle ball dress, and a floral showstopper with a chiffon-over-organza-over-taffeta skirt. And Coco Rocha appeared last in the show wearing a tiered white ball dress.

Divabetic SummerPosen’s women, he says, “find joy and power in dressing.”

Of course, these dresses aren’t practical. We love e’m because they exemplify Divabetic’s ‘GLAM MORE, FEAR LESS’ philosophy. Why not dress up and show off how fabulous you can be?

We can’t understand why people ask “why are YOU so dressed up?” As if wearing something cute that makes you feel good is a “strange” thing to do!

Life’s too short to blend in. Don’t settle for average.

Dressing unconventionally forces you to develop the self-assurance necessary to stand out from everyone else like a diva. Fashion is one of the rare instances where art comes alive. What artistic statement do you want to make?

If you’ve got it (great style, killer confidence, amazing legs), it’s just wrong not to flaunt it. Don’t get down, Get DIVA!

Diva Front Row at Calvin Klein – Spring 2013

September 14, 2012

Divabetic SummerCalvin Klein’s Francisco Costa showed a Spring 2013 collection that didn’t disappoint with exquisite veiled dresses consisting of two layers, the most impressive of which had a strapless white under layer with netting on top.

We think this look is diva-licious!!!

Costa created a printed illusion by putting an abstract black lace dress over a white satin bustier and mesh skirt.

Costa’s Hollywood fashion fans, Amy Adams, Emma Stone and Diane Kruger, seemed to be greatly admiring his work — and taking notes — from the front row.

We have a feeling some of these designs will show up on these actresses during awards season. There are no great Oscar gowns here but there are lots of suits and dresses perfect for the Nominees Luncheon, Guild screenings and never-ending studio cocktail parties.  Here’s hoping we catch one or two A-List actresses on the red tomato carpet in Calvin Klein.
