Ultimate Fashion Statement: Neon Sneakers!

August 30, 2012

Divabetic SummerFluorescent colored workout gear– particularly sneakers– were a big trend at the London 2012 Olympics and now they’re making a statement in New York City.

From neon green, pink and yellow, the world’s best athletes and weekend warriors  are stepping up their game in sneakers with an added pick me up. Earlier today, I must have seen at least 20 joggers and runners wearing fluorescent colored sneakers in Central Park.

“They’re standing out because the colors on their feet are so bright. From a viewership point it makes you want to put on a pair and get out there,” said Jaclyn Emerick, Fitness Editor at SELF magazine.

Fashion editors believe the neon fashion trend is going to last.

“We’re not just seeing it in track and field… it can psyche you up,” added Emerick.

Some of the bright shoes are the Nike FlyKnit Trainers, part of Nike’s US medal stand footwear and apparel collection.  The lightweight shoes are made of eco-friendly material and designed to fit and feel like socks.
