Sally Field, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Lincoln, admits she once bought her own dress for the Oscars.

“When I won my Oscars (for Norma Rae and Places in the Heart) in the ’80s, I went to a store and bought a dress. Paid for. That was it! This has all changed. In such a huge way. I have these wonderful designers that I go, what? He wants to make a dress for me, and he wants to make a dress for me? I’m overwhelmed. I feel like a kid.”

But first, has she figured out her next project? “No! I’m sure I’m going to do the nextSpider-Man, because I was in the first one that they did,” she says.” I love my darling Andrew (Garfield) and Marc Webb.” But, (producers, take note) she’s still on the lookout for a Broadway play. “I’ve been looking like mad for that play. That’s what I’d really like to do.”

Divabetic Halle Berry Stuns in Sheer Leather Dress

November 3, 2012

Divabetic FallActress Halle Berry certainly knows how to bring ‘sexy’ back! After all, she made Oscars history in one of the most memorable sheer dresses of all time, her Elie Saab sheer-topped gown.

She looks amazing in her most recent outfit, a leather-and-sheer dress that managed to conceal in all the right places at  the “Cloud Atlas” premiere in Moscow. Even when she bent over to sign autographs, the Catherine Malandrino frock stayed in place.

“Cloud Atlas,” Halle’s new movie with Tom Hanks, has put the star back into the spotlight recently. We haven’t seen the movie, but we are happy to be seeing so much of Halle again — fingers crossed that the flick is good enough to land Halle on the Golden Globes and Oscars red carpets.

But seriously, check out Berry’s latest outfit and let us remind you that this woman is46 years old. Yup, our jaws dropped too.

See Mr. Divabetic’s nutrition game, Serve, Taste or Trash!  You must decide which one you’d serve, which one you’d taste and which one you’d trash.

Before you decide to “trash” a veggie for good, why not try to eat it raw? Raw veggies can be more appetizing than their cooked counterparts to people who aren’t crazy about vegetables. The flavors of raw veggies can be milder than those of cooked ones.

Jennifer Hudson’s New QVC Line Launching Soon

June 20, 2012

Divabetic StyleJennifer Hudson is putting together a affordable fashion line for QVCWomen’s Wear Daily reports.

“I’ve been a big girl and now whatever this is, the average size, whatever you want to call it,” Hudson told WWD. ”But I wanted the clothes to be where any girl could wear it — no matter what size you are — and you could feel comfortable in it.”

Her new collection will include a $75 sheer maxiskirt, 74.50 bodycon dress and $50 leggings; Hudson says she owns 300 pairs of leggings. The most expensive piece? A $170 coat.

New Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center Coming Soon

June 19, 2012

Divas We LoveCedars-Sinai will be the home of the new Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center, which will be directed in Cedars-Sinai’s Heart Institute by  C. Noel Bairey Merz, MD.

The famed actress, singer, director and activist met Bairey Merz a few years ago and was shocked to learn, as she has said publicly, that “Women around the world are dying in alarming numbers from an epidemic of heart disease. We can no longer afford the misconception that heart disease is mostly a man’s disease.”

After supporting a regenerative medicine research fund in 2007, then underwriting The Barbra Streisand Women’s Cardiovascular Research and Education Program in 2008, Streisand in 2011 received the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors Humanitarian Award for her efforts on behalf of women’s heart health and her many other philanthropic activities.

The support and attention that Streisand can bring to gender differences in cardiac research and care — as she did, for example, by hosting other notables such as former President Clinton at her home — is laudable and timely.

Important research has been under way for roughly a decade into gender differences in heart disease. But there’s a significant gap to be made up in our understanding and therapies in this area because so many studies were conducted only on men and many therapies were aimed solely at them; many clinical trials of various heart drugs lacked adequate representation of women to see how gender differences might affect the response to medications.

Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 killer of both and women. It can present warning signs so different in the sexes that heart disease in women may be misdiagnosed or missed entirely. The number of deaths from ischemic heart disease actually is higher in women than in men.

The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic stops by the 66th Annual Tony® Awards at the Beacon Theater in New York to talk about divas, dazzle and diabetes.

Meryl Streep Breaks 29 Year Losing Streak at Oscars

February 27, 2012

In what might have been the tightest race of Oscar night, Meryl Streep beat Viola Davis to win Best Actress at the 84th annual Academy Awards. With 17 nominations, Meryl Streep is the most lauded actor in the history of the Oscars; this is her third win.

“When they called my name, I had this feeling I could hear half of America going, ‘Ohhh, no,’” the ever-delightful Streep said during her acceptance speech. She went on to tearfully thank her husband.

Meryl Streep won the award for playing Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady,” following her reign as Britain’s Prime Minister and into her more troubled twilight years. This win ends her 29-year losing streak; the last time Streep took home a trophy was in 1983 for her role in “Sophie’s Choice.”
