You must be at  least 18 years of age, wear a size 12 and up and live within a 25 mile radius of Philadelphia, PA..Email a full body picture and a beauty head shot no larger than 200K  to mrdivabetic@gmail.com before Thursday, October 11, 2012. Photos do not have to be taken by professionals. Dress to impress. All entrants must dress runway worthy for the catwalk and perform a runway walk for judges who are the top professionals in the plus industry. Divabetic will keep your information on file for future events. Because of the volume of emails, we are not able to respond to each request.

GLAM MORE FEAR LESS! We’re back with our most popular national outreach program promoting a new attitude in living well with diabetes. Don’t get down, Get DIVA!

Divabetic’s national diabetes educational outreach program, ‘Divabetic – Makeover Your Diabetes’, mixes free beauty and fashion services and music with interactive diabetes education in a fun, comfortable setting to broaden the appeal of diabetes educational outreach for women. Our goal is to make every woman feel more beautiful inside and out through the help of a team of certified diabetes educators, registered dietitians, and beauty and fashion experts.

The free event hosted by the happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic offers both educational resources for caring for diabetes — including lots of opportunities to talk with certified diabetes educators and health professionals — as well as salon services such as makeup application by professional makeup artists and advice on choosing flattering dress styles.

According to recent reports, diabetes is a serious public health issue affecting an estimated 11 million women. Because of the increasing lifespan of women and the rapid growth of minority populations – among whom diabetes prevalence is two to four times higher than among white women – the number of women in the United States at high risk for diabetes and its complications is increasing.

Divabetic, a national nonprofit organization, is on a mission to promote better outcomes for women with diabetes or those at risk using our time-tested approach by appealing to women’s desire for attractiveness. Over the past seven years, our approach of glamorizing good health has received rave reviews.

Divabetic was inspired by the late music legend, Luther Vandross and created in 2005 by Max ‘Mr. Divabetic’ Szadek, who, as Vandross’ assistant of 14 years, witnessed his boss, mentor, and friend struggle in silence and solitude with the diabetes and its related complications

Fashion’s Night Out 2012 with Mr. Divabetic

Now in its fourth year Fashion’s Night Out promises to be bigger than ever with more than 4,500 outlets in 20 different countries hosting events simultaneously on Thursday September 6, 2012.

Divas, it’s time to “GLAM MORE, FEAR LESS!” 

New York, of course, is where it all started, and the city doesn’t disappoint, with an array of events to coincide with the start of fashion week.

From a performance from Cyndi Lauper at Manolo Blahnik, a karaoke sessions at Michael Kors, to Mr. Divabetic‘s roving red tomato carpet at the Yotel this year’s FNO will see the industry’s power players let their hair down.

Vogue Fashion Director Grace Coddington has created an exclusive line for Balenciaga in honor of the event.

Macy’s will feature  appearances from Kourtney Kardashian‘s long-term beau Scott Disick, and Barneys will become a buzzing street fair with salsa lessons for all.

The fun is not limited to the East Coast either. Over in LA Kendall Jenner will be kicking off proceedings at the Berverly Center while the Porsche store on Wilshire Boulevard will be serving up free glasses of bubbly all evening.

Launched by Anna Wintour in New York in 2009, the global initiative sponsored by Vogue and the CFDA was aimed at giving the fashion industry a boost during tough economic times and this year a special T-shirt will be on sale to help raise funds for the New York City AIDS fund.
