Mr. Divabetic's Wishing & Hoping

Mr. Divabetic’s Wishing & Hoping

I’m so excited to announce the fabulous divas who will be joining me on the “Mr. Divabetic Show” podcast in March. We’re talking ‘DIVAS!” My special guests will be Broadway’s ‘Forever Dusty’ star Kirsten Holly Smith and Kitchen 101 and Trim & Terrific cookbook author Holly Clegg.  I chose these two remarkable women to help inspire you to ‘GLAM MORE, FEAR LESS’ so you can enjoy the glamorous life aka ‘a life without diabetes health-related complications.’

Get the exclusive behind-the-scenes story of the making of Forever Dusty and find out Kirsten’s beauty and health secrets to performing at her best night after night.

Dusty Forever is about the life and times of legendary ‘diva’ icon Dusty Springfield. With her towering blonde beehive, spectacular outfits, and most of all, her unforgettable, soulful voice, Dusty Springfield became the first great female pop star of the 1960s. But how did a shy, awkward Catholic schoolgirl with the cumbersome name of Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’Brien, transform herself into an icon for a generation?

Forever Dusty tells the compelling and moving story of Dusty’s journey, in a dramatic, high-energy musical filled with some of the most exciting pop songs ever written, including “Son of a Preacher Man,” “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” “The Look of Love,” and many others. Dusty Forever was written by Kirsten Holly Smith and  Jonathan Vankin, and  directed by Randal Myler.

Holly Clegg known as the “Queen of Quick,” has offered expert advice on quick, flavorful and healthy eating for nearly 20 years through her best-selling trim&TERRIFIC® cookbook series and the newly released KITCHEN 101: Secrets to Cooking Confidence. Holly has been featured in USA Today, Country Living Magazine and First for Women. She was also recognized as one of the Top Louisiana Chefs of 2011 by the ACF of New Orleans. Holly has also released a phone app, Mobile Rush-Hour Recipes for iPhone, ipad, Blackberry and smart phone application, (search under apps to download), which brings her signature recipes to your fingertips.

Mr. Divabetic is the host of Diva Talk Radio, a WEGO Health Activist  Awards Nominee and the executive director of Divabetic. Divabetic was inspired by the late music legend, Luther Vandross and created by Max Szadek, who, as Vandross’ assistant of 14 years, witnessed his boss, mentor, and friend struggle in silence and solitude with the diabetes and its related complications. President Barak Obama, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter have acknowledged Divabetic for it’s dedication and determination on behalf of the diabetes community.

Mariah Carey Joins American Idol

July 23, 2012

Divabetic SummerMariah Carey will be joining “American Idol” as a judge  for Season 12, filling the female diva slot and removing any doubt that Jennifer Lopez is really leaving.

Carey, speaking to the group briefly by speakerphone, welcomed the new assignment. “I am so excited to be joining Idol,” she said. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly confirmed the hire on the phone with Carey in front of television critics.

He was less forthcoming about her salary, which is reported by multiple sources to be $12 million for her first season.

That’s the same rate at which Lopez was hired. Lopez reportedly made $15 million her second season, during which the show’s ratings tumbled, and unconfirmed sources said she was rebuffed when she asked for a raise to return for season three.

How Adele Managed To Hide Her Pregnancy

July 16, 2012

Divabetic SummerBritish superstar, Adele surprised fans when she revealed that she’s pregnant; they got a double dose of shock when reports revealed that she’ll give birth in just two months.

How did Adele manage to keep her baby news hidden for the last seven months?

The 24-year-old has recently been spotted out and about — even making public appearances — but has slyly avoided press and dodged photographers.

When the singer attended the Ivor Novello Awards in May, she was almost five months pregnant, a time when many expectant moms start to show. But the Someone Like You star managed to hide her and boyfriend Simon Konecki’s happy news by sneaking into the awards late, wearing loose clothing, and refusing to pose for pictures or talk to the media.

Adele’s very near due date also means the singer was actually pregnant when she performed at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Now Adele‘s estranged father has reached out to the soul star after learning she is pregnant, insisting he wants “more than anything” to be part of her life as she becomes a mother.

The Grammy-winning singer’s dad Mark Evans, who split from Adele’s mother Penny when the star was just three years old, heard the news from his own mother and he has now urged his daughter to consider a reconciliation.

Unfortunately Evans will have a hard time convincing Adele to reconcile – she previously admitted she was angry at her estranged father for airing his heart ache in the press.

She told British Vogue magazine, “It blows my mind. ‘I love her so much.’ Really? Why are you telling me that through a newspaper? If I ever see him I will spit in his face”.

What are you and your family eating this summer? The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic talks to everyday people about their healthy appetites at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA.

Spice Girls Musical Coming To Broadway?

June 26, 2012

The Spice Girls are back! The fab-u-lous 5 recently announced details of a musical based on their songs – a tale of fame and female friendship that will open  in the fall.

The music of the 1990s “girl power” group is being revived in “Viva Forever,” which tells the story of four friends whose bond is tested when their band enters a TV talent show.

The Spice Girls said they were delighted with the show, which is produced by Judy Craymer, the woman behind world conquering ABBA musical “Mamma Mia.”

“It’s better than we could ever have imagined,” said Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm of the show, written by ultra-cool comedian Jennifer Saunders, who co-created TV sitcom “Absolutely Fabulous.” (We’re loving it, already!)

“They sing it better than us,” added Melanie Brown, the band’s “Scary Spice.

They were joined by Band members Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell (our favorite Spice Girl) and Victoria Beckham – also known as Baby, Ginger and Posh – for a media launch in the grand neo-Gothic hotel where the video for their 1996 No. 1 hit “Wannabe” was filmed.

The band’s outsized personalities and Halliwell’s Union Jack dress made them icons of 1990s “Cool Britannia,” and they sold 75 million records around the world.

Beckham said the show would “be introducing a whole new generation to Girl Power: as reported by Jill Lawless.

The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic stops by the 66th Annual Tony® Awards at the Beacon Theater in New York to talk about divas, dazzle and diabetes.
