Mr. Divabetic remembers the eight-year anniversary of losing a legend, the late Luther Vandross (April 20, 1951 – July 1, 2005) with this special podcast, Tribute to Luther Vandross, celebrating his career during the 1980s.  Luther Vandross was a musical master whose style has influenced an entire generation of today’s vocalists. His distinctive brand of satin smooth vocal magic moved international audiences and continues to touch people to this day.

Throughout the ’80’s, Luther Vandross released 6 consecutive platinum/double platinum albums on CBS/Sony’s Epic Records label starting with his debut album as a solo performer, Never Too Much, in 1981. The album earned Vandross two Grammy Award nominations in 1982 – “Best New Artist” and “Best R & B Vocal Performance, Male.” In addition, the album includes his rendition of Dionne Warwick’s “A House Is Not A Home” which became one Luther’s signature songs, while it received attention for its transformation into an “epic” since its duration was extended to seven minutes.

The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic, who worked with Vandross for more than 14 years, hosts this hour long tribute podcast featuring  Robin Clarke, Alfa Anderson, Ava Cherry, Chuck White, Ivan Hampton, Jr., Jeff James from SONY MUSIC, David Jones and Luther fans from around the world.

Luther Vandross Inspires Diabetes Movement: Divabetic

Divabetic was inspired by the late music legend, Luther Vandross and created in 2005 by Max ‘Mr. Divabetic’ Szadek, who, as Vandross’ assistant of 14 years, witnessed his boss, mentor, and friend struggle in silence and solitude with the diabetes and its related complications. Since its inception, Divabetic has presented outreach programs in 20 major U.S. cities, reaching hundreds of thousands of women, their families and health care professionals.

Through the years, Divabetic has done an outstanding job of ‘passing the boa’ to raise awareness of diabetes in a fun, new way. Mr. Divabetic and his team have presented a dazzling array of programming to empower, encourage and inspire the divas and their families to stay healthy and upbeat about their daily self-care across the country.

Divabetic gained national and international attention with the success of its Divabetic – Makeover Your Diabetes outreach tour, presented in nine major US cities (New York, NY, Washington DC, Los Angeles, CA, Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA, Cleveland, OH, Philadelphia, PA, Miami, FL, Detroit, MI). Divabetic worked with teams of local certified diabetes educators in each city and reached thousands of women across the country. The success of the tour now serves as a content platform for many of Divabetic’s live and online programs. Additionally, Divabetic has worked with local healthcare centers to present an upbeat and interactive form of wellness outreach programming in Hagerstown, MD, Nashville, TN, Stamford, CT, Memphis, TN, Knoxville, TN and Tampa, FL.

This year, Mr. Divabetic plans to travel to Washington, DC, Los Angeles, CA, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY San Diego, CA, Pittsburgh, PA, Raleigh, NC and Austin, TX in support of Divabetic’s dazzling brand of diabetes health and wellness outreach.
