Tyra Banks Has a Muffin Top …NOT!

October 3, 2012

Divabetic FallIt’s very rare to find a celebrity who embraces their flaws. So when TV talk show host, Supermodel, Tyra Banks tweeted a photo of herself, asking fans to check out her back fat, we just had to share it.

The “America’s Next Top Model” host, 38, flaunted her famous curves in theInstagram picture, writing, “Check the juicy muffintop on my back!

We don’t see anything, but you go, girl!

Tyra Banks isn’t afraid to  talk about her body and how it has changed over the years. The former Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret model knows her abs aren’t as perfect as they once were, but she doesn’t care.

“When I was model and started to gain weight, the designers said they weren’t going to hire me anymore because I was getting too curvy,” Banks told Gurl.com last year. “And then years later, when I was doing a photoshoot for ANTM in Sydney, Australia and the paparazzi snapped some pictures of me and then the tabloids called me ‘Tyra Pork Chop Banks’ and all this stuff. That time it was hurtful in a bigger way because I had girls coming up to me saying that they were my size or bigger than me. So I felt like I needed to say something and that’s when I did a whole episode on my talk show about it,” she continued.

Flex Your Muscles Like One of ‘The Avengers’

August 4, 2012

Divabetic SummerShe may be best known for playing Robin Scherbatsky on the long-running CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” but Cobie Smulders proved a scene-stealer as Agent Maria Hill in the blockbuster action flick “The Avengers” this summer.

So, how does the enviably svelte star stay in shape? In the September issue of Women’s Health, Smulders tells the magazine, “If I could be as fit as Madonna is now, that would be rad. For me, it’s more about being healthy than about how I look.” (Her HIMYM character has a similarly low-maintenance approach to working out.)

She continues, “I do Pilates because it’s important for me to have a healthy back when I’m 70 so I’m not hunched over and in pain. That’s more important to me than being thin.”

But the most important question remains: Who’s more of a badass in real life, Smulders or her “Avengers” co-star Scarlett Johansson?

“She could probably take me,” Smulders admits. “I’m all legs and arms, but she’s got a nice, low center of gravity.”

Look who else is flexing their diva attitude. Check out real people’s reactions to Mr. Divabetic unique way of promoting healthy eating habits at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA.

TRX Workout Introduction

June 6, 2012

The TRX is a piece of equipment that was developed by a Navy Seal so that he and his teammates could train wherever they were able: on a ship, in a hotel, at home, anywhere.  The set of straps can be attached to any high point and utilized for a variety of bodyweight exercises.  Most (if not all) of the exercises that can be performed on the TRX will challenge the athlete’s core strength, balance, cardiovascular conditioning, and flexibility.

Get the basics on suspension training along with a 10 exercise workout sure to shred up your entire body from top Philadelphia trainer Gavin McKay.

‘Get Into The Groove’ with Group Exercise

December 31, 2011

Experts agree that group exercise can be beneficial. “Working out in a group provides support, accountability, and structure,” says Lynne Vaughan, Chief Innovation Officer of the national YMCA. “People don’t want to let their buddy or group down, which is terrific in terms of adherence to an exercise routine.”

I totally agree! This past year I stayed in shape by taking several group exercise classes a week. I think making a New Year’s Resolution to join a group exercise class is a sure-fire way to stay in shape.

Sure, at times I felt like a total idiot because I couldn’t get the steps as quickly as everyone else in a class but I didn’t let that stop me. I used it to motivate me to going to class!

I also made a lot of new friends. Group classes help me fit in a full body workout in a set timeframe.

Group exercise classes vary by as much as the different fitness instructors who teach them. So try them all and mix them up. Variety really does create the best balance.

Diva Review: The Jane Fonda Prime Time Workout DVD

December 21, 2011

Divabetic: Jane Fonda's Prime Time Workout DVD

The Jane Fonda Prime Time Workout DVD consists of 2 workouts that are categorized into level 1 and level 2.  They are both approximately 25 minutes long to prevent putting too much  stress on the body.  The workouts use weights to tone and sustain muscles mass while you burn fat.

This new Jane Fonda’s Workout DVD is targeted to Baby Boomers and seniors.  However, even young people who are not in shape or are not in the mood to have a strenuous workout can benefit from this DVD.  Others who can benefit:

  • People who are sick
  • People who have injuries
  • People who give birth
  • People who get off track of their regular exercise program
  • People who have let themselves go
  • People who are overweight

Therefore, while it was designed for seniors in mind, the Jane Fonda Prime Time Workout DVD can definitely help others no matter what age.  Not everyone has the ability to do kick boxing, advanced aerobics, or high impact exercises.  This is an excellent DVD that you can fall back on when your body isn’t cooperating with what you want to be doing.

The majority of buyers have given this workout program a high rating.  They enjoy the walking workout because it is not too long.  The weight workout uses low poundage, but you can increase the weights if you wish.

While many users do like the weight and walking program, if you are into hard core exercising, this may not be the program for you.  It is more of an easy going type of exercising that is designed to get your muscles moving without strain or stress.

Users also feel there is a good balance with the exercises.  The routine is set up where there are just enough reps that will not make them tedious or tiresome.  It is not overpowering.  It is also good for people who simply hate to exercise.  According to users, the Jane Fonda Prime Time Workout DVD is just the right speed and amount of time for movement, stretching, and balancing.

Boy, does Jane Fonda look good too! Today, she turns 74 years old and seems to be in her prime.

Mariah Carey’s New Weight Loss Is Thanks To Jenny Craig

November 10, 2011

Divabetic: Mariah Carey says 'Thanks, Jenny!'

Mariah Carey has shed a whopping 70lbs in the past six months after giving birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe. But she didn’t do it alone … she did it with the help of Jenny Craig.

She said she knew needed to lose weight after seeing a photograph of herself shortly after being visited by friend Reverend Al Sharpton in hospital. ‘I looked at myself in the photo after and thought “Who on Earth is that?’ Mind you, I thought I looked good at the time!’

Mariah began the regime with a 1500 calorie a day special menu and workouts three times a week. ‘When I started, I got really strict with myself,’ she told Us magazine.

‘In our society we tend to just eat and eat because it’s there. I’d love to sit around and eat whatever I want all day, but now I have to watch it,’ she says.

‘Losing weight is about eating what you like, just in the appropriate portion sizes. I wouldn’t say it was really hard, but it required focus and determination. ‘The first week, I lost 40 lbs of just water. It was just water, initially. When I started with the program, I lost at least 30 lbs of weight that needed to be lost.’

‘Even thought my weight loss was mainly from dieting, I’m never going to stop working out.  ‘It releases stress,’ says Mariah, who says she’d like to return to her 2008 weight. I know I’m not going to look my thinnest every day, but I know how to get back there if I want to.’

She works out for 45 minutes five to six times a week with Sunday as a rest day doing a mixture of  cardio and aquatic workouts in water along with crunches, push-ups, triceps dips, lunges and squats. She added: ‘The whole point of this is not just like: “Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I’m fantastic.” It’s really health.’’
