Heinz Ketchup is olling out a limited edition variety, “Heinz Tomato Ketchup blended with Real Jalapenos.”
New Heinz Tomato Ketchup Blended with Real Jalapeño is the same thick, rich tomato ketchup that consumers love, with one ingredient added – real jalapeños. The unique, hot flavor is perfect for adding a kick to breakfast favorites like eggs and hash browns, or spicing up classics like burgers and fries.
The website Brand Eating tells us that the stuff won’t be on select shelves until January of 2013, but Heinz’s Facebook page is selling a few bottles from November 26 to December 7. It’s calling the promotion “12 Days of Jalapeno Ketchup.” The regular retail price will be $2.49, but the bottles will cost $4.99 through Facebook. Order two to five bottles, though, and you get a free one.
There’s no word how different “Heinz Tomato Ketchup blended with Real Jalapenos” will taste from another zingy Heinz product already on the market, “Heinz Hot & Spicy Ketchup,” which is made with Tabasco sauce.

Drinking even a few alcoholic beverages per week during pregnancy could lower a baby’s IQ by a few points, a new study has found.
The findings, published in the journal PLoS ONE, also suggest that women whose bodies process alcohol slowly are at greater risk of harming their baby’s brain development.
“This is good evidence to implicate moderate drinking during pregnancy having an effect on childhood IQ at age 8,” said study co-author Ron Gray, an epidemiologist at the University of Oxford. “Some women are going to be genetically more vulnerable or resilient than others to the effects of alcohol on the fetus, but we don’t know who those people are.”
While heavy drinking during pregnancy can decrease learning even in utero, past studies on light drinking during pregnancy have been all over the map. Some have linked that glass of merlot with dinner with decreased IQ and attention in babies, while others have found light drinking didn’t affect IQ. One study even found that women who drank lightly during pregnancy had children with higher vocabularies.

Every 45 seconds someone in the United States experiences a stroke. Although an attack can come on suddenly and without warning, some people are more at risk than others. Here are two surprising stroke symptoms you should be aware of:
Do you get migraines frequently and are they accompanied by an aura? If so, according to studies, your risk of a stroke may be 21 percent greater than those who don’t suffer with migraines.
Do you avoid exercise? Experts agree that moderate exercise can lower your risk of a stroke by up to 30 percent. According to researchers, all you need is half an hour of brisk walking five times a week to make a difference. By Robin Westen

Brooke Burke-Charvet, co-host of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” has revealed that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and will be undergoing thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, according to news reports.
“I’ve booked my surgery,” she said in a video. “It’s taken me a couple of months to really wrap my head around this … Now I’m good. I’m ready to deal with it, and I’m going to be fine. I feel really, really strong. Doctors say this is a ‘good’ kind of cancer to have.”
Thyroid cancer is a lot less common than other cancers, with 56,460 new casesexpected this year, according to the National Cancer Institute. It involves cancer of the body’s thyroid gland, which is located near the bottom part of the throat and plays a major part in the functioning of hormones.
Risk of thyroid cancer is higher for women, people of Asian descent, younger and middle aged people (between ages 25 and 65), people with a family history and people who’ve previously undergone radiation of the head or neck area, according to the National Institutes of Health.
There is more than one kind of thyroid cancer – the most common type, papillary carcinoma, is also the least dangerous, and usually affects women. The most dangerous kind, anaplastic carcinoma, is also the rarest; the form most likely to recur is called follicular carcinoma, according to the A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia. The kind that is most likely to run in the family is medullary carcinoma, which is actually when the non-thyroid cells in the thyroid gland develop cancer.
Symptoms of thyroid cancer include the presence of a lump in the neck, problems with swallowing, neck and throat pain, swollen lymph nodes and hoarseness or other voice changes, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The disease is typically treated with surgery – thyroidectomy involves surgery to remove the entire thyroid, which is the procedure Burke-Charvet will undergo. Depending on the case, it may also be necessary to remove lymph nodes in the neck, the Mayo Clinic reported. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and radioactive iodine treatments may also be necessary.

A new study is linking regular consumption of sugary drinks with risk of stroke.
The newest finding, first reported by Reuters and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, shows that women who said they drank the most soft drinks in the study had an 83 percent higher risk of ischemic stroke than those who reported drinking the fewest soft drinks.
Earlier this year, a study in the Journal of General Internal Medicine showed a link between drinking a diet soda every day and higher stroke and heart attack risk.
“It makes sense, if [sugar sweetened beverages] increase the risk for obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, inflammation, then it should, in fact, raise the risk for cardiovascular disease, and that’s what we’re seeing,” Cleveland Clinic’s Adam Bernstein, who was not involved in the study, told Reuters.
Researchers found that women who had drank the most soda in the study — Reuters reported that this was nearly a soda a day – had a higher risk of ischemic stroke than those who drank the least soda in the study. However, researchers didn’t find a risk between soda consumption and ischemic heart disease, or hemorrhagic stroke for either men or women.
A recent Gallup study showed that nearly half of Americans drink a sodaevery single day.

The 39-year-old actress showed off her newly slim figure at the premiere of “Wreck-It Ralph” on Monday night. After months of hard work, dedicating herself to eating right and exercising she flaunted her new bod in a tight black skirt and long sleeve blue blouse.
This past January, Winokur told PEOPLE her body was bouncing back after a rocky holiday season.
Using her Retired at 35 costar Josh McDermitt as a support system, the PEOPLE blogger said, “We’ll text each other in the morning [about our hikes]. Since the year began, I’m doing well. Everything’s back on track.”
At the time, she also said her “clothes are fitting better” and she no longer wanted “to eat crap.”

People with diabetes who have foot ulcers are at increased risk for premature death, often from heart attack or stroke, according to a new study.
The findings stress the need for improved detection and management of diabetes and foot ulcers caused by the condition, according to the researchers at St. George’s, University of London.
Diabetes can damage blood vessels and nerves, especially if a patient’s blood sugar is not well controlled. Poor circulation and nerve damage in the feet make people less likely to notice cuts or other injuries, which can turn into ulcers. In severe cases, foot ulcers can lead to amputation of the foot or leg.
The results highlight the importance of a two-pronged approach for people with diabetes, the researchers said.
The first is enhanced screening for foot ulcers, because early detection and treatment may help reduce some of the complications of foot ulcers.
The second is lowering cardiovascular risk factors in people with diabetes, study co-leader Kausik Ray said in a university news release.
“Our results warrant further investigation as to whether even greater control of risk factors such as blood pressure, blood glucose and early preventive screening can further reduce mortality among those with foot ulcers,” Ray said. “There is likely an unmet potential to reduce deaths in this group.”
Although the study found an association between diabetic foot ulcers and higher death risk, it did not prove a cause-and-effect relationship.
