The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic is ready to raise awareness for diabetes in a brand new way on Labor Day Weekend at Central Farm Markets, Bethesda, MD on Sunday, September 2, 2012. He will be rolling out the roving red carpet to talk to farm market vendors, customers, professional chefs and local certified diabetes educators including the Director of Outreach and Education at the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation, Kathy Gold RN, MSN, CDE to help you to take your fresh produce from ‘Farm to FABULOUS!’
Mr. Divabetic will kick off the 3rd annual “Bake Bethesda a Pie” contest in his world famous ‘fruit suit’, a fundraiser for Manna Foods Bank. Over 37 amateur, but dedicated, bakers (adults and kids!) will bring their fresh baked delicious sweet and savory pies that will be judged by some of Washington’s top food professionals. Our panel of judges includes Joseph Poupon, pastry chef and owner of Georgetown’s Patisserie Poupon, and Carole Sugarman, Food Editor of Bethesda Magazine.
Mr. Divabetic will interview customers at the market to capture their honest and often hilarious opinions about healthy lifestyle choices. Interviews will be compiled into a video to be posted on Mr. Divabetic‘s YouTube channel! The contest judging begins at 11 AM at Bethesda Central Farm Market @BethesdaFarmMKT, located at Bethesda Elementary School on 7600 Arlington Rd. Winners and prizes will be awarded at 12PM.
